Beatblock
A head-spinning rhythm game
History
I was originally introduced to Beatblock from a friend of a friend, CV35W. Personally, I am quite fond of rhythm games, so I checked it out as soon as the demo released. Pretty quickly I became the first to perfect rank all levels in the demo, and had made the second ever custom chart. Within a couple of months, I was privileged enough to be offered the ability to playtest upcoming builds.
What I Did
I tested every update from the initial demo release through the paid early access builds. In this process, I reviewed the majority of charts currently in the game, providing nearly ten thousand words of combined feedback. I also found multiple bugs that would cause softlocks, crashes, and more, before they were publically released. This feedback is in addition to the extensive testing of each element in the game (and the many more minor bugs that came along with each).
What I'm Currently Doing
Early Access is currently out, with planned releases every month that adds new songs and features. You won't find any spoilers here, though! Just know that I'll be working behind the scenes to make sure everything is all good :3
I've made a few custom charts (and plan on making more, if I ever get the time to). I would also look into the modding scene for the game, since I would like to better learn how the game works under the hood.
Conclusion
I've met a lot of cool people through this endeavor. It's been over a year now that I've been helping, and I would like to see this project succeed (which so far, it has been blowing every expectation out of the water!). Honestly, I'm proud of how far the game has come, and it's genuinely a fun experience to play through.
Check Beatblock out! Especially if you like rhythm games!
